From the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the Marked Men books comes an electrifying new spin-off series, Saints of Denver, featuring all the characters fans have been dying to read about.

Sayer Cole and Zeb Fuller couldn’t be more different. She’s country club and fine-dining, he’s cell-block and sawdust. Sayer spends her days in litigation, while Zeb spends his working with his hands. She’s French silk, he’s all denim and flannel.

Zeb’s wanted the stunning blonde since the moment he laid eyes on her. It doesn't matter how many smooth moves he makes, the reserved lawyer seems determinedly oblivious to his interest—either that or she doesn't return it. Sayer is certain the rough, hard, hot-as-hell Zeb could never want someone as closed off and restrained as she is, which is a shame because something tells her he might be the guy to finally melt her icy exterior.

But just as things start to heat up, Zeb is blindsided by a life altering moment from his past. He needs Sayer’s professional help to right a wrong and to save more than himself. He can’t risk what’s at stake just because his attraction to Sayer feels all consuming. But as these opposites dig in for the fight of their lives, battling together to save a family, the steam created when fire and ice collide can no longer be ignored.

Hey beauties! Today, I am so excited to host the next stop on the BUILT by Jay Crownover Blog Tour! I am such a fan of Jay’s, I adore her Marked Men series and was so fortunate to meet her when she came to Dublin, she was the first author I was properly starstruck meeting and she’s an author on a surprising short MUST BUY list so you know I adore her 😉 BUILT is the first in her new series entitled SAINTS OF DENVER which is set in the same “‘verse” as Marked Men and I devoured it. Scroll down for my review and a fun post from Jay with lots of hot bearded men for you to drool over! And I mean…have you SEEN that cover???? :O

There’s something about Jay Crownover’s writing that simply captivates me. Her stories burst with colourful characters – with larger than life souls and vibrant personalities that you can’t help but fall for not to mention plotlines that stir a wide myriad of emotions within and are addictive and unforgettable. BUILT was no different. Set in the same ‘verse as the beloved MARKED MEN series (see my reviews for RULE, JET, ROME), it tells the story of Sayer and Zeb.

Sayer Cole left her life in Seattle without a second thought when she discovered she had a brother she never met. Desperate to connect with family after years of living in a loveless home, Sayer finally feels like she has something tangible to grasp on to. When Zeb Fuller, the bearded, sexy and dominant contractor she hires, makes it known that the stirring of desire she feels when she sees him and is afraid will threaten to overwhelm her if she gives in to it is mirrored in him, her perfectly ordered life she desperately clings to feel secure is upended. Sayer has lived in a world of gray and beige; the splashes of colour that spill into the horizon when she spends time with Zeb are exhilarating and terrifying. Can she risk letting go and giving in to her hidden passion?

Zeb enjoys women but has never let himself get close to one since he spent time in prison after witnessing just how destructive love gone wrong can be. Having spent years working to make a life for himself, he can’t help but fall for the icy blonde with hidden depths. When he and Sayer are thrown together by the ghosts of his past, the couple must fight desperately to protect the innocent and keep the flickering flames of their passion from being smothered.

Crownover is never one to shy away from the difficult topics and in BUILT she puts abuse front and centre in all its many forms. She never lets the subject overwhelm the plot however or make the characters nothing but “victims” but instead celebrates their struggles and constant fight to escape their demons and find their inner strength. The character of Sayer is one I really connected with, she’s not the warmest at first, instead she is constantly battling to believe that she is worthy of the love her family and friends wish to shower her with and more importantly share the love she’s not quite sure people will think valuable. The growth of her character through her relationship with Zeb and her own personal journey of self discovery is heart warming and emotional. The connection she has with Zeb on a deeper level is wonderful and you can really see how well they complement each other. And of course this is a Crownover book so the passion is red hot and the naughty scenes will require a very cold shower lol 😉 Like all the Marked Men/Saints of Denver, Zeb’s appearance is deceiving. He might look like a rough and ready, hot as hell, bear of a man but his heart is bigger than his intimidating exterior and his personality is sweet and tender to those he cares about. Like Sayer, his journey will melt your heart and there are many of cute moments to elicit an “aww” from your lips.

Like the other books in this ‘verse, BUILT has a plethora of secondary characters that will entertain and intrigue you and I can’t wait to see more from them. Plenty of familiar faces pop up, and while there are mild spoilers for the Marked Men series (something I was worried about as I haven’t finished it yet), they aren’t going to spoil your enjoyment of SAINTS. Equally it’s not a requirement to have read the previous series to understand this one.

Once again, Crownover has written a story that is dynamic and original, that challenges perceptions, is tender and captivating and serves up plenty of sexy and swoony moments that will keep you hooked from page one.
