Lol, sorry I just couldn’t resist titling this post in typical Irish fashion!
I can almost hear my grandmother saying “Huh huh! Well, here she is coming, if it isn’t herself, the prodigal one returns!”
To be honest it’s how I feel! I’ve been pretty much absent from the blogosphere the last couple of months, only posting when I have been absolutely obligated to. Part of it has been because of real life and part of it has been because I just needed a break to get some space and rediscover my love of blogging and the community as a whole. I think I’m finally ready to jump back in and embrace blogging not just books but all the other posts I’ve been threatening to write for so long. I feel more confident and secure and less afraid of trying new things. Does that make sense?
Well, I got a new job! I’m working in an historical collection as an invigilator and also doing some research, helping to curate exhibitions and lots of other stuff. It’s fun, each day is different and the people I’m working with are great. Plus it’s gotten me out of the house which is the biggest thing and I’m talking to people and making friends and building up my confidence again which is great. I also feel more secure to make plans and I actually booked my first holiday in six years. Nothing major, just cheap and cheery to Lanzarote but it feels so good! I feel like a person with a life again, who has plans and prospects and doesn’t just see a bleak landscape on the horizon. I also still have time to do a little editing work on the side for some authors which is nice because I still want to make working in publishing my ultimate goal so being able to keep up with my contacts is important.
I’ve been doing a lot of work on my fitness and trying to get my health in order. Now that I have my holidays booked, the pressures and thoughts of wearing swimwear is definitely at the forefront of my mind
Also has anyone seen Mad Max – Fury Road??? I saw that a couple of weeks ago and I cannot.stop.thinking.about.it!! It was just the most insanely brilliant movie ever, it was like being punched in the face with awesomeness, and my senses are still rattled!
I hadn’t read anything in weeks which was getting me down and making the whole blogging thing seem even more daunting but then I got approved for an ARC of Second Chance Summer by Jill Shalvis and I just knew all would be well. I just love how her writing is so easy and familiar, warm and compelling and I am thoroughly enjoying this new book and mentally putting together my TBR for the next few weeks.
Anyway I just wanted to say hi and that I’m glad I’m back and can’t wait to reconnect with you all and chat about books and life and everything in between so do let me know how you’re doing. What you’re reading, watching, loving right now! Do say hi on twitter, instagram, facebook or drop me an email if you need anything! I don’t want to feel disconnected again, I realised that the space allowed me to see just how much I love this community and how much I want to be a part of it for many years to come!
