Luxury yacht, tropical seas, babes in bikinis…dream job, right? Wrong. The passengers are rich jerks who treat the crew like garbage, when they aren’t pretending we’re their whores. The best day was when that cokehead heiress Kalina tried to fire me just for doing my job. I swore I’d never go back home to my parents and their crazy fundamentalist ranch in the desert, but nothing could be worse than this.

And then the pirates attack.

Luxury yacht, tropical seas, billionaire boyfriend…dream trip, right? Wrong. After catching my man getting “extra services” from the maid, I know I’m the laughing stock of passengers and crew. Every time I lay eyes on that quiet, handsome deckhand Adam, I can feel him judging me. I want to die, and when the pirates show up, I think I’m going to.

But Adam… he saves me. Now we’re alone together on a lifeboat in the open ocean. Adam thinks we don’t have a chance, but thanks to him, we’ve made it this far.

And then, in the distance, I spot an island…

I’m a big fan of castaway style stories. It’s always compelling to read about people digging deep within and finding the courage to survive in the direst, and most terrifying of circumstances. Throw in some sizzling chemistry, entertaining characters and sunshine and you’ve got yourself a great read to while away the hours when it’s pretty cold and miserable outside!

ISLAND ESCAPE is the first in a new series of steamy, New Adult tales from author, Viv Daniels. ISLAND ESCAPE serves as a prequel to The Island series, detailing how the people living on the island in question ended up there. Telling the story of wealthy heiress Kalina and deck-hand Adam, ISLAND ESCAPE is a sexy, captivating introduction and left me wanting more.

To be honest I was a little unsure about whether I would like this book because the characters were wholly unlikable at first and I wouldn’t have minded if they had fell overboard the yacht they were on! Kalina, an orphaned heiress is spending the summer on her boyfriend’s yacht, sailing around the Pacific. She spends her days with her equally wealthy friends, snorting cocaine, downing vodka shots and behaving like a spoiled princess. Adam, a college student from New Mexico, was raised in a religious fundamentalist family who believe the apocalypse is nigh and survivalist living is imperative. Fleeing from that life, he’s ended up on the yacht to earn some cash. Spending his days being propositioned by Kalina’s friends and cleaning up after their destructive behaviour is not what he had in mind. When pirates board the yacht, Kalina and Adam are thrust together as they escape their captors and end up washing up on a deserted island. There, they must forget their differences and learn to trust each other in order to survive. As the days pass and hopes for rescue fade, emotions run high and Kalina and Adam realise they may not be so different after all.

Despite the shaky start, Kalina and Adam quickly endeared themselves to me as I followed their adventures on the island. As we learn more about the characters’ pasts, I sympathised with both and I loved how Daniel’s developed the characters and proved that first impressions aren’t always reliable, something both I, the reader, and the characters quickly realised.

ISLAND ESCAPE may be a novella but it was wonderfully developed and gave a real sense of the world and the characters. Despite its short length, it tugged at the heartstrings and definitely stirred my emotions.

Sexy and sweet, ISLAND ESCAPE is a story of survival and love with plenty of twists and thrills to keep you wanting more.

Thanks love, yeah it was definitely a dodgy start. I don’t know if I would have persevered had it not been a review book but it was a nice surprise

It’s good that the story got better for you, even though it was off to a rocky start. 😀 I like survival stories because it is great to see how people persevere, and I like picking up survival tips. ;P

Haha, yeah I’m always amazed how people somehow manage to survive these kinds of situations because I’d probably keel over pretty quick!

So… I am really interested in this! At first it sounded a bit Gilligan’s Island-y, but I am all for it! I am also a fan of the hate to love trope. Thanks for putting this on my radar girl!

It’s a great sign that characters are so fully developed in a novella as usually that’s not the case. And I love survivor type stories so I’ll be keeping an eye on this series.

And the blog looks FAB! Love the makeover 🙂

This isn’t something I would ordinarily pick up either, and the synopsis has me a little iffy. Sounds like it was pretty good though, I like the sound of the development.

I love Castaway books, my all time fave is On the Island which I highly recommend! This was fun but the characters were pretty hard work!

I cracked up when you said you you wouldn’t have minded a couple of characters falling overboard! I’m very intrigued by this book, like you, I also enjoy reading castaway type of stories. BUT Kalina looks like she’s going to be a real piece of work, in the beginning at least. It was free on Amazon so I snatched it up anyway. It’s worth a try! 🙂
