Chalet Girl Sophie Trent has plenty of reasons to hate Valentine's Day. After a lifetime of being treated like she didn’t matter because of her looks, she’s shed the pounds but not the self-esteem issues – and when she can curl up with one of her beloved romance novels, why put herself through a night of awkward speed ski dating?

A treasure hunt set by a secret admirer makes her reconsider. Only, what if it’s a cruel joke? Because it certainly wouldn’t be the first time!

But as Sophie follows the trail of red paper hearts around the idyllic winter wonderland of Verbier, she can’t help but wonder whether there really might be a Secret Valentine waiting for her out there on the slopes…

I’m a big fan of Lorraine Wilson’s sweet and saucy chalet girl series and this latest offering SECRET CRUSH OF A CHALET GIRL did not disappoint.

Kind and vulnerable Sophie is dreading Valentine’s Day. Memories of a disastrous hook-up in the past that ended with her self-esteem crushed and keeping a devastating secret has left her feeling that happiness will always be out of reach. When Sophie discovers a secret admirer has set up her very own Valentines treasure hunt, a spark of hope ignites in her heart especially when she realises it could be the gorgeous and seductive barman Luc behind it. Will Sophie find love at the end of the trail or heartbreak?

Like all of Wilson’s novellas, she manages to create a heart-warming and steamy story of romance tinged with darkness that gives it an emotional edge. Sophie’s secret paralyses her from truly taking the steps necessary to secure her own happiness and it is both heartbreaking and intriguing to watch her work through her trust issues as she embraces her mini adventure and follows the clues towards her admirer. I connected with Sophie the most out of all the heroines in this series and rooted for her to take the leap into the unknown rather than sit in the corner reading another romance novel (hmm why does that sound familiar? Can I please order a social life too?)

Filled with humour, heart and some welcome familiar faces, SECRET CRUSH OF A CHALET GIRL is touching, stirring with the right mix of romance, steamy scenes and plenty of feeling.

I think I need to read these books. I recently watched the movie “Chalet Girl” and that’s what instantly came to mind when I saw this post! Great review, love!

this sounds so cute! the title reminds me of the movie Chalet Girl which I LOVE. I’ve never heard of this series but now I’m adding it to my Goodreads! thanks 🙂 Sophie sounds like a character that has layers and issues.. I like my characters 3D and not 2D so this is perfect.
