February 1, 2014 weekly memes 36

Stacking the shelves and The Sunday Post
are memes where we share our news from the month and our book haul.

This month in life and on the blog

  • January was definitely a month of ups and downs!
  • I GOT TO VISIT MY NIECE!! Finally snuggles with Hope Alice! Got to go to London mid-Jan and visit my sister and new niece. It was fab to see them both and spend some time with them. Miss them every day!
  • We had to say goodbye to Star, my sister’s cat in the picture below with baby Hope. She was my sister’s faithful bff for 18 years and it’s so sad that she’s gone but I know my Gypsy is taking good care of her.
  • My dad had a health scare. It was very scary, everything seems okay now but it wasn’t fun to get the news.
  • I got back into cooking big time this month so those recipes I promised you guys a few months ago? Watch out for them soon!
  • Major reading and blogging slump happening. ‘Nuff said!
  • I started watching The Mindy Project! Love it already! Anyone watch it? Also got back into Criminal Minds and addicted!

Blog posts this month

This month I got…

From Publishers

Taking part in the UK blog tour for this!

Hello Country Music and Romance! I am there!

From Publicists

Reading this at the mo and loving it! Such a FAB series but got to be honest out of all the cover redesigns this is my least fave. The cover model looks like she’s sneering and not like a girl in love! The original cover was softer and more romantic and fit the book better imo.

This was unsolicited but sounds like a fun read!

Love the sound of this one!

From Edelweiss

I squealed when I got this! Love Sarah Fine!!

This sounds sooo good!

This sounds super cute!

This cover is soo cute!

I’ve wanted to read this author for a while!

I still haven’t read Tiger Lily *ducks* but I have a feeling I will love it and this ^^

From NetGalley

Hearing great things about this!

I adored her debut ACID so can’t wait to read her follow up!

Zombies? YUS!

Love a good War romance!

This sounds like a cute NA!

Okay so January was my book buying ban month…I failed. I failed hard. These are the highlights of my purchases because I am NOT posting just how much I failed at my ban! This is still scandalous! Damn Kindle sales!

I figured it was time!

Have heard nothing but good things about this author!

Another one I thought must be bought!

This one has been recommended to me a lot!

I’m not the only one who hasn’t read a Jenny Han right?

Have heard nothing but good things about this Adult romance!

This series sounds fab and it’s finished now so no waiting!

From what I’ve heard this is a pretty good dystopian!

I love the premise of this one!

Another series I need to start!!

This sounds wonderful!

This was on sale and a lot of my blogger friends like this series

WTF’ery ahead!

Need I say anything?

I adore her and this book is amazing!

That’s it!

What did everyone else get?

Thank you for mentioning my precious furbaby! I’m sure she’s happy in pet heaven now. Xxx

  2. Jessica@Lovin' Los Libros

WOW! ALL THE BOOKS! Yay for seeing your niece! She’s gorgeous! And I’m sorry to hear about your sis’s cat. 🙁 Pets are hard to lose- they are family too! Speaking of family- I am glad to hear your dad is okay- I hate that you had a little scare (I’ve had a few with mine in the past and it’s NO fun.)

In other news- I miss your face! I feel you on the blogging slump at least. I’m in full force with the reading, but haven’t wanted to write reviews and such. I’m just overwhelmed. I’ve dug myself into a hole and I’m having trouble coming out.

Ok- the BOOKS! Made in Nashville looks great! I WANTS! Chelsea and I are starting Girl in Love tonight too. I love the new covers, but I agree- this one didn’t really fit the book like it should. I got a lot of those same EW books, so I’m excited to get to them when I have a chance. Third Degree looks adorable! Must. Resist. Requesting….

Ok lovely, I’ve blathered on long enough. <3 <3

  3. Trish @ Between My Lines

    Your niece is super cute!
Slammed, yay! I love the look of Starters, I’m in a dystopia mood right now so I’ll check that one out.
And oh yes, I agree with you about the new Kylie Ryan covers, bring back the old ones! I think that girl looks like she smelt something bad! I couldn’t bring myself to admire them during the reveal as I just don’t. But I can’t wait to read the final book!

    • Danielle

Thanks Trish! She is super cute lol. I know those covers just don’t fit for me, I think the other girl was softer and fitted the part, the new girl looks mean! I need to finish GIL, I had to take a break cos of the angst, I really like it but I think I’ll be giving it a similar rating to yours tbh!

    • Danielle

Thanks Jo! You’re right, I’m the same with my dogs, they are definitely part of the family. Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting <3

  4. Wendy

Adorable niece!!! Also I hope your dad is doing well – mine just got out of the hospital recently so I know how you feel!!

I’m not in a blogging slump perse, I just have had no time to write reviews or read…caught up a bit this weekend though 🙂

You got great books! yay simply irresistible!!! I love those lucky harbor books soooo much!! Also I need to read Percy Jackson at one point too! I am going to start Girl in Love soon too, maybe tonight. I completely agree about the cover…

    • Danielle

Thanks Wendy! Hope your fiance shaved his beard! (Totally commenting on something that has no reference to your comment but is still making me laugh lol!!!)

  5. Vilia

My goodness there are a lot of books there. I hope you like Jill Shalvis – she has a couple of other series that are great as well. I found the Literary Pot Pie book a bit uneven but that was probably because another person finished it off after the original author died.

    • Danielle

Thanks for stopping by Vilia! I’m looking forward to starting Jill’s books! I had noticed it was two authors on the Literary Potato book but I didn’t realise the circumstances! Glad to know that in advance! Thank you!

  6. RedIza

    What a beautiful baby 😀
I heard a lot of good about the Rosie projet and Tears of Tess (though I’m not so sure about the latter), the Guernesey literary etc is such a great read, hope you’ll love it !

    • Danielle

Aww thank you! So glad to hear that Guernsey…(I can never remember the full title) is a good read and I can’t wait to start The Rosie Project! Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting <3

  7. Chrissi Reads

Your niece is so sweet 🙂 I’m sorry to read about your Dad. I hope things are still okay! Boooo to reading and blogging slumps. I’ve just experienced a reading slump and it was rubbish! Your new books look fab too. Enjoy!

  8. Jess Hearts Books

Your niece is absolutely beautiful! Really sorry to hear about your sisters cat and your dad though. Hope he’s better now! *big hugs* It looks like you got some amazing books so hopefully they’ll bring you out of your slump this month. 🙂

  9. tonyalee

Baby Hope!! How cute you are! And yes, she looks a lot like you 🙂 and poor Star 🙁 how’s your sister?

Btw, you suck at book buying bans. BUT YAY FOR OF METAL AND WISHES. We should do a readalong. *nods vigorously* 😛 xoxo

And No slumps! Not allowed, lady.

    • Danielle

She is cute. I must send you some new pics, she looks so like me in them when I was the same age, poor kid! Defo on for a readalong! Hugs hon, miss ya xoxo

  10. Reviews From A Bookworm

Your niece is absolutely gorgeous! You’ve got a lot of amazing books this month, many of which I’ve loved and some I am dying to read. I have an ARC of Side Effects May Vary and I can’t wait to read it, it looks so good. Rome looks really great, I haven’t heard of that one before. I hope you enjoy your books 🙂 My STS

  11. Terri @ Starlight Book Reviews

HELLO PRETTY LITTLE NIECE! I’m so jealous that you have a girl baby to buy presents for!

I’m glad your dad is okay! Health stuff is always really unsettling because you want to fix it and you can’t. BUT he’s okay! Hooray!

Oh I love the Mindy project! How far have you gotten? Are you caught up to last week yet?

Tiger Lily is so so so so so so good and dark and sad. It was so far from what I was expecting especially considering it was narrated by Tinkerbell! Oh I loved it so much. You gotta read it eventually!

    • Danielle

Haha thank you! Yes too many pretty dresses to buy! ahhhh

I’m still on season one of The Mindy Project but I’ll catch up and I’m sure you’ll hear from me!!

  12. Jeann @ Happy Indulgence

Awww your niece is adorable Dani, congrats! You’ve received some awesome books, I got The Geography of You and Me & Side Effects May Vary as well. Haven’t heard very favourable thigns atm though. Prayers for your dad but I’m glad he pulled through, that must be the scariest thing that could happen. Enjoy all of your books hun!

  13. Allura

Your niece is PRECIOUS! I’m sorry to hear about the bad news but hopefully February will look up for you *all the hugs*. As for the reading/blogging slump, me too! 🙁 I just bought On Dublin Street – I hear it’s REALLY good.
