It was the weekend before Christmas and the whole world was on countdown.
Except for me.
Last Christmas, I met a boy.
Last Christmas, we made a pact.
Christmas would never be the same.
Life would never be the same...

THE GIFT is a wonderful short story set around Christmas that allows us a snapshot of a love story in the making as Imogen meets the wonderful Blake. I’m not the biggest fan of holiday stories, I’m a bit of a bah humbug merchant but this year I’ve been making a concerted effort to be more “t’is the season to be jolly not sour-faced!” and reading THE GIFT was the perfect start.

Karli Perrin knows how to work her romance chemistry set and mixes the right amount of fizz and sparkle with just a hint of snark and a beaker full of sexual tension to make you as giddy and light-headed as sipping a glass of bubbly!

I loved Imogen, she was sweet but sarcastic and well able to banter with the gorgeous Blake. Their first conversation had me chuckling and cooing and will ensure I never look at Santa and Mrs. Claus the same way again!

Despite the brevity of the text, Perrin packs a punch and I really felt like I got to know the characters, I loved their chemistry which was electrifying as was the plot with a twist that almost gave me a heart attack at one point!

A sweet, fun Christmas story guaranteed to warm the cockles of your heart!

This was super cute! I am not really a fan of shorties, but this one I didn’t mind. I loved the no angst, just 2 people meeting and wanting to spend time together angle. The only thing I didn’t care for was the one scene towards the end. I just didn’t feel like it fit in the book personally. Karli is adorbs and I’m so thankful you and Trish introduced me to her!

Great review! Glad you’re looking up this year 🙂 I love holiday stories as they really help get me in the spirit. I picked this one up today and after your review and Jess’ I need to read it today. I want to know what this plot twist is!

Eeek! I loved this story! So cute and fun! I was amazed how quickly I became invested in the characters with it only being a short story! She did a great job!

Your reviews (no matter how long, short or what genre) always make me laugh! I’m a huge “jolly” person this time of year but I’ve never read a holiday story. I think it’s time I changed that. 🙂

I’m like you, I’m more “bah humbug” than “seasons greetings” at this time of the year! I think it’s because all the Christmas merchandise has been in the shops since the beginning of November and it feels really dragged out. Reading a short story set at Christmas time sounds like the perfect way to dip your toes in Christmas-themed books rather than diving straight in!
