Dani’s Buzzin About Books – This Song Will Save Your Life by Leila Sales

July 8, 2013 Buzzin' About Books 11

I don’t like to post reviews too early but sometimes a book comes along that deserves a little early buzz and some time in the spotlight so here’s –

Inspired by many great blogs including Jamie’s The Perpetual Page Turner feature “Save The Date”

Why am I buzzin’?

This Song Will Save Your Life is the reason I adore YA so much. It captures that essence of youth, vulnerability, optimism and hopelessness that encompasses those years. Uncertainty will follow you through life, it’s a constant companion whatever your age but as teens we are caught in that limbo of near-adulthood that is inexplicably unique to the teenage years. Leila Sale’s heroine Elise encapsulates all of the above and makes you root for her desperately as she stumbles her way through love, friendship, heartbreak and success. The writing is stellar and the music…oh the music. If there was ever a reason to sell soundtracks to books? This is the book! This is the reason. Sales picks tunes that fit the pages so perfectly you can’t help but get caught up in the magic.

This is a book that’s hug-worthy!

Look out for my full review on September 17th!
